Zombie Apocalypse

When a zombie bites Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris doesn't turn into a zombie, the zombie turns into Chuck Norris. Let's face it though, Chuck Norris doesn't live in Minnesota. The odds of being saved by good ol' Chuck around here are slim.

Okay, then! Plan B: Learn to fend for yourself! Making breads + biscuits from scratch, canning, fermenting, cheese-making. Things that our grandmas and great-grandmas likely knew how to do, but have fallen by the wayside in the last generation or so. We have a strong feeling these skills will be making a comeback soon, and we'd like to lead the charge!

Tammy Kimbler is a good friend, neighbor, and blogger (One Tomato, Two Tomato). To use a quote from her About Me page, "I grow, forage, can, dry, pickle, ferment, brew, age, cook and eat from my garden, backyard, roadsides, hillsides and local farms. I eat well and love to feed others as often as possible."

We are super excited to have Tammy in for a series of classes, designed to help you feed yourself! Classes will take place on Sundays from 1-4 in the afternoon, and will be hands on with a small take home item after each class. Light snacks and a welcome champagne cocktail included with the price!

Class Dates and themes:

On the menu:
  • August 13, 2017: Canning
  • December 10, 2017: Breads + Biscuits
  • March 18, 2018: Cheesemaking

Chef's Night Off

What do you get when you combine your favorite restaurant chefs in the Twin Cities, a fabulous non-profit, a bevy of fantastic "celebrity assistants" and a pretty kick-ass kitchen? Well, we like to call that Chef's Night Off. And, we’re squealing like schoolgirls to tell you more.

Chef's Night Off is a limited-attendance cooking class led by the best restaurant chefs in our fair cities. Up close and personal. So fill up your glass, put on your apron and be prepared to get busy. Because YOU'RE doing the cooking.

The menu will be created the day of the event so Chef can take inspiration from the seasonal goodies and international flavors of our Midtown Global Market. And who knows what other twists we may have up our sleeves?! We've been known to secretly request an ingredient out of Chef's own refrigerator and throw that into the mix. Or maybe we'll see something Chef likes to make at home...It's always an adventure!

Past guest chefs have included Thomas Boemer of Corner Table and Revival and Gavin Kaysen of Spoon and Stable, just to name a few.

Amazing, feel-good side effect? Your participation will help fund a monthly donation to our charity partner, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota!
